POLITICAL STUFF & THINGS

Note: The current President is NPCed and from a random third party. We are not (to the best of our abilities) bringing in 'Republican' or 'Democratic' views, and the President, Cabinet, Congress, Senate, Supreme Court, etc etc etc, are not who they are IRL. As for Iraq, it's in the state it is currently, but via fully-backed UN aide rather than it being a strongly US thing. This is to avoid OOC political drama and hurt feelings.

The following countries are gathering mutants to deport, jail, or otherwise detain them:
  • China
  • Cuba
  • Laos
  • North Korea
  • Vietnam

The following countries have begun to register their mutant citizens, but in that creepy bad news way:
  • Syria
  • Iran
  • Pakistan
  • Lebanon
  • Africa

The following countries have registered their mutant citiizens or are in the process of doing so, mostly just for the numbers, but also plan provide "benefits" (think affirmative action/disabled/vet stuff):
  • Mexico
  • United Kingdom
  • Spain
  • Germany
  • Japan
  • Italy
  • France
  • Austria
  • Russia
  • Basically all of the European countries, you get the jist
  • Iraq

The following countries are not registering their mutants as of yet:
  • Israel
  • Canada
  • Australia

If there's a question on a country not listed, ask the mods for what that country's views would be. As for institutes like the Catholic Church, it's assumed that they aren't having a shit fit about it -- Think more along the lines of being blessed by God, and those like Kurt or Jono are having their faith/belief tested x100 or something.

The cards are sort of standardized; if you have a drivers license then the info will go on there (power category/type and ranking). If you don't have one then you'll get a registration card separately that's basically just that info and a picture of you. The country seal is, obviously, different on each one. And they are mandatory -- If it turns out that you're a non-registered mutant, you'll probably be thrown in jail for a night or two and be forced to register. No big punishment, really.

Power categories are:
*Physical powers (healing, physical enhancements, flight, etc)
*Mental and Knowledge-based abilities (telepathy, telekinesis, omniknowledge, etc)
*Fundamental Forces and Reality (elemental, time and space manipulations, etc)

Ranking is (from least to most powerful):
*Epsilon-Delta (dormant mutant powers)
*Gamma (non-harmful mutations, primarily knowledge-based (such as Cypher, etc))
*Beta (mostly physical mutations; also the place for physical mutations that are dangerous but without the reach of an Alpha (Angel, Wolverine, etc))
*Alpha (strong mutant powers, capable of mass harm, injury, or control of others (Cyclops, Havok, etc))
*Omega (very, very rare; the strongest of all mutants, their powers are virtually limitless, and capable of world destruction (Nate Grey, Magneto, Elixir, etc))

(credit to here and here for the info. we know we're not going exactly by what Marvel does but hey, it's our verse.)
